Acreage report captures attention.
Successful Farming
The USDA will release its June Acreage Report on Friday morning. “I would absolutely expect the report to move the market,” says Eric Fransen, director of Market360 Grain. “The average change on the day of the report for corn is 15¢ and for beans, 22¢.” Despite the attention this report will receive, weather remains the most important factor in price direction.

High Plains Wildfires

It’s been only a handful of weeks since the high plains wildfires swept through in March, and ranchers and farmers there are slowly working towards rebuilding. The fires have been devastating, taking seven lives, over 2 million acres of farm and ranching land lost, as well as thousands of cattle. Donations have been coming in to help rebuild miles of fencing, feed cattle, and everything else needed by those who have been hit by the wildfires.

Professional Dairy Producers Grant Opportunities.

Do you know of a dairy education program in your area that could use support? Right now, the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation (PDPF) is accepting proposals for grant dollars to qualified educational programs. These include educational opportunities that help build dairy producer professionalism as well as public knowledge in how dairy products are produced. Grant applications are due by June 1, 2017, and organizations may apply for up to $5,000 in grant money.
